Miranda Lambert, the country music superstar, is once again stirring up controversy with her onstage actions, and this time, it’s leaving a lot of her fans disappointed. Known for being bold and outspoken, Lambert’s recent behavior at the Montana Festival on July 14 has sparked major backlash. Fans who once adored her are starting to question their loyalty after her blunt comments to the crowd.
It all started when a fan caught a now-viral moment on video during Lambert’s performance. The singer, wearing a stylish cowboy hat and a denim dress with fun tassels, was visibly frustrated. The video showed her scolding the audience, especially those who weren’t fully paying attention to her set.
Lambert didn’t hold back. She pointed right at the crowd, saying, “I can see your head is not turned the right way, which is this way,” motioning toward herself.
Her southern accent was as thick as her attitude in that moment, and the sternness in her voice made it clear she wasn’t happy. Some fans responded with cheers, but you could tell others were caught off guard by the intensity of her reaction.
Without skipping a beat, Lambert continued, “So, if you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else,” making it very obvious that she wasn’t there for people who weren’t fully focused on her music. For the die-hard fans who were there to have a good time, she promised a fun night ahead.
“If you came to sing and hear some country music and drink some beer […] then we’re doing that tonight,” she said with a more relaxed tone, trying to get everyone back into the spirit of the show.
But it wasn’t just the distracted fans that got her attention. Lambert also called out some troublemakers in the crowd who seemed to be stirring things up. “Are we clear?” she asked, raising her hands as if she were a teacher handling a rowdy classroom. Then, in an attempt to lighten the mood, she joked, “Fighting is not ok […] And it’s always the girls.
We get crazy!” Her laugh and playful attitude seemed like an attempt to smooth over the awkwardness, and she even lifted her cup in a toast to the crowd.
That’s when she noticed her cup was empty. Without hesitation, Lambert waved her cup toward the stage crew and said, “Mine’s empty.” Within seconds, a crew member rushed over with a fresh drink, and Lambert held it high, saying, “This looks like a good time for a drink, y’all!” Her arms wide open, she tried to bring the energy back up after what was clearly a tense few minutes.
The moment was quickly shared on TikTok, where it sparked a storm of comments. The caption of the video read, “Thoughts? 🤷🏻♀️ #mirandalambert #underthebigsky #whitefishmontana #countrymusic,” and the comment section was flooded with reactions. One fan who was there wrote, “We left.
As did LOTS of the crowd,” while another called the situation “terrible.” Some fans expressed how this behavior was the reason they stopped supporting her. “I stopped liking Miranda for this exact reason,” one person commented.
Others, however, didn’t see anything wrong with what she did. A fan in the front row said, “Honestly she was amazing. We were right up front and loved every second of it.” Another person chimed in with, “🔥🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE her. Always have. She’s brutally honest. Something so many of us lack. Honesty!”
This isn’t the first time Lambert’s attitude has made waves. During a previous concert in Las Vegas, she stopped mid-performance of her hit song “Tin Man” to call out a group of women who were taking selfies instead of listening to the song. Clearly frustrated, Lambert told the crowd, “These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissed me off a little bit.”
The audience cheered, but Lambert wasn’t done. She made the women put away their phones before she restarted the song, asking, “Shall we start again?”
Once again, social media was buzzing after her latest outburst at the Montana Festival. One TikTok user wrote, “Yikes this was completely out of line and awkward. She’s not a teacher here 😅,” while another said, “Omg… and then imagine how they felt after this???”
Some found the whole thing funny, with one person commenting, “The people leaving right after she did it lmaoooo that was great!” Even a Taylor Swift fan jumped in, adding, “Taylor [Swift] would never 😏.”
Lambert’s no-nonsense way of interacting with her fans continues to divide people. Some appreciate her honesty and think it’s refreshing, while others feel her attitude is a little too harsh. But one thing is for sure—Miranda Lambert isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and she’ll keep doing so, whether people like it or not.
