Get ready for a shopping revolution at Walmart! They’re ditching old-school price tags and going high-tech with digital shelf labels. This change is set to shake things up for both Walmart workers and shoppers alike.
In early June, Walmart kicked off testing of this new technology at a store in Grapevine, Texas. The trial run was such a hit that within weeks, Walmart announced plans to roll out digital labels to 2,300 more stores over the next couple of years.
So, what’s the buzz about digital shelf labels? Right now, Walmart staff have to trek through aisles every week to tweak prices on new items, discounts, and more. With these new digital tags, they can zap the prices of thousands of products in just minutes using a mobile app.
Daniela Boscan, a Food & Consumable Team Lead in Hurst, Texas, is thrilled with the change. “Digital shelf labels have totally transformed my daily routine,” Daniela shared.
“Before, adjusting prices would eat up days, but now it’s done in minutes. This means more time helping customers and less time on boring tasks.”
Not only that, but these labels also make it super easy to keep shelves stocked and fulfill online orders efficiently.
But with this new tech comes questions. Will Walmart use dynamic pricing, where prices could change based on demand?
That’s something shoppers are curious about as they gear up for a more futuristic Walmart shopping experience.
