Without a doubt, nobody wants to beg and survive off what others decide to give them. Anyone in this situation has likely faced hardships that would be tough for any of us to endure.
When they see a beggar, most people have a negative attitude and don’t rush to help. Some even make fun of beggars, treating them as less than human.
Casey Fischer is different. She always tries to lend a helping hand. One day, she saw a beggar on the street trying to get some money. The man had come into a café where Casey was, but he had only managed to get one dollar from the patrons.
Casey noticed him and called him over to her table. She offered to buy him a pretzel and coffee, thinking it might brighten his day.
After talking for a while, Casey learned that the man ended up on the streets due to drug use, and his mother had died from cancer. Despite his tough life, he wanted to turn things around and make his mother proud. He dreamed of a better future.
They chatted for some time, and as Casey was getting ready to leave, she thanked him for sharing his story and encouraged him to believe that things would get better.
Before she left, the beggar, named Chris, asked Casey for a pen and paper. He quickly wrote something down and handed it to her.
They said their goodbyes, and Casey headed off to college, later realizing she hadn’t read what Chris had written.
When she finally checked the note, it said, “Thank you, lovely soul!”
Casey shared this story on her social media. She wrote that Chris is a great man and expressed hope that he could have a chance at a better life. She admired his efforts to get clean and rebuild his life, noting how hard it is for him since most people don’t give him a second thought.
The fact that Chris wanted to move past his current situation and improve himself touched many people, and Casey’s post quickly went viral.
