Kids often don’t understand how dangerous some online trends can be. Sadly, 11-year-old Tommie-Lee Billington lost his life because of this. His family is now warning others about the risks found on social media.
Tommie was at a friend’s house when he tried a risky challenge he saw on TikTok. This challenge involved inhaling harmful gases or solvents to get a high. Tragically, Tommie’s heart stopped suddenly, leading to his untimely death.
Sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident. Two teenage girls also died while trying the same TikTok challenge. We need to raise awareness about these deadly trends to protect our kids.
Tommie’s mother, Sherry, is using social media to urge parents to talk openly with their kids about the dangers of TikTok challenges.
In an emotional Facebook post, she wrote, “This cost my son his life from trying something other kids are doing.
Please discuss the repercussions of this with your kids. I don’t see why someone would even attempt this! It’s really risky!”
Sherry is determined to honor her son’s memory by spreading awareness and preventing other kids from facing the same fate. Let’s support Tommie’s family during this difficult time and work together to stop any more children from being harmed by dangerous online trends.
Rest in peace, Tommie. We are deeply sorry for your loss. Now, let’s join forces to spread this important message and ensure that no more children die needlessly.
