Meet Toby, often called the saddest cat on the internet. Toby was facing a bleak future in a shelter, with a high chance of being euthanized. His story is particularly sad because he had a disfigured ear, deep cuts, and a broken spine.
It looked like Toby had been in a fight with a much larger animal.
Shelter staff believed Toby knew what was coming. He wasn’t trying to fight it; he just lay there, not eating or drinking. But then, a kind-hearted employee at a veterinary clinic heard about Toby and decided to give him a second chance.
What happened next was nothing short of amazing. Just an hour after arriving at his new home, Toby’s whole attitude changed!
“As if to express gratitude, he started purring, smiling, and climbing up for cuddles. I firmly believe he knew he had finally found safety and his forever home,” said the staff member.
Even though the veterinarians were doubtful, Toby beat the odds and started walking again. Soon, he was not just walking but running and leaping!
Though Toby still needs pain medication, he is no longer the saddest cat around. He has truly become a happy feline!
