Tattoos are one of the most popular ways people express who they are. Some keep it simple with a small design, while others go big, covering entire parts of their body with intricate art.
Tristan Weigelt is one of those people who went all out. At 26 years old, the tattoo apprentice has made headlines for his extreme body art, but what really grabbed people’s attention were the photos of how he looked before he turned his body into a work of art.
The transformation was shocking.
Tristan’s journey into the world of tattoos began at the age of 20. Over the years, he’s covered an impressive 95 percent of his body with ink.
“It’s kind of weird looking at myself without all the tattoos,” Tristan told the Daily Star. “But funnily enough, I still feel exactly the same as before on the inside.”
While every tattoo is different, Tristan said the ones on his face and head were by far the most painful. He described the feeling as if someone was scraping his skin with a metal brush. “It was six full-day sessions, each lasting five to six hours,” he shared. “The pain was probably an eight out of ten.”
Unlike many people who choose tattoos for their deep personal meaning, Tristan admitted that his body art doesn’t carry any hidden messages. For him, it’s more about the art itself than anything symbolic.
In the five years since he began, Tristan has spent a jaw-dropping $50,000 on tattoos.
For those thinking about getting a tattoo, Tristan has some advice: “Get what you love and what makes sense to you,” he said. “I see so many people worried about whether a certain tattoo fits them or if it’s their style. If you like it – then get it.”
His message is clear: when it comes to tattoos, the only opinion that matters is your own.
