The Terrible Truth About Jackson the Dog
It’s hard to believe, but some people shouldn’t own pets at all. This story shines a light on one of those cases that will leave you both shocked and heartbroken.
A few years ago, Hayden Howard noticed something was very wrong with her dog, Jackson. He was an English Mastiff, a big, gentle giant who loved playing outside. One sunny day, while Hayden was inside their home, Jackson was enjoying his time in the backyard. When Hayden called him in, she thought he looked like he had been bitten by a swarm of insects.
But when she got closer, she realized the truth was much more horrifying.
Jackson was covered in bullet holes.
“I was completely shocked. I didn’t know what to think,” Hayden told WXIN, her voice trembling with disbelief and pain. How could anyone hurt such a sweet dog?
Without wasting any time, Hayden rushed Jackson to the veterinarian. She knew he needed help immediately. At the vet’s office, the doctor examined Jackson carefully and found something terrifying: he had been shot with tiny bullets from a BB gun. “There was one stuck under his eyelid, one in his ear, one in his knee. They were everywhere,” Hayden said, her eyes brimming with tears as she spoke.
There were so many bullets that the vet had to shave almost all of Jackson’s fur just to reach them. In total, he removed 27 bullets but sadly had to leave 20 more inside Jackson’s small body. The vet counted at least 20 more bullet holes that had pierced Jackson’s skin. All together, Jackson had been shot over 70 times!
“I have never seen an animal shot that many times. It’s a very bad case, and it’s sad to see,” said Craig Hayes, the Assistant Chief of the Seymour Police Department. His statement echoed the outrage felt by many in the community. How could someone be so cruel to a dog who had never harmed anyone?
As the police launched their investigation, they suspected the shots had come from a nearby yard. They were determined to find the person responsible for this terrible act. It didn’t take long for them to uncover the truth. They discovered bullets and a BB gun hidden in a neighbor’s home.
But that wasn’t all; the police also found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the same house. This was a serious crime, and it highlighted the danger this person posed not only to animals but to everyone around them.
“I really hope the person responsible gets a long prison sentence,” Hayden said firmly. “They should pay the price for their crime and never be allowed to be near animals again.” It was a sentiment that many shared, feeling that justice must be served.
Despite the trauma Jackson had suffered, Hayden reported that he was recovering well. “He’s a fighter, and I know he’ll pull through,” she said, her heart filled with hope for her beloved dog.
Even though some news outlets may label BB and pellet guns as “toys” or “fake,” they can cause serious injuries. “These are real guns that can do real damage,” Hayden insisted. When someone uses a BB or pellet gun to commit a crime, it should be treated seriously. “Criminals who use these weapons against innocent animals should face the consequences,” she added.
As Jackson continued to heal, Hayden couldn’t help but dream of the day when he could play freely in their backyard again. “I really hope that Jackson springs back to full health soon,” she said. “He deserves to run and play like he used to.”

On top of whatever sentence, the person gets which should be severe, I believe he deserves to be shot the same amount of times that she did the dog. I am extremely angry reading this story. Although I am very happy, the dog is OK
