At the glittering New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds had more than just movie magic to share. As the crowd buzzed with excitement, Ryan took the stage, but it wasn’t just about the film. He had something personal, heartfelt, and surprising to announce.
With a smile, he looked out at the audience and said, “I want to start by saying thank you to my wife, Blake, who is here.” The crowd’s energy rose as Ryan continued. “I also want to thank my kids James, Inez, Betty, and Olin, who are here. I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing — that is, the contents of this movie — that happens in your wondrous life.”
Everyone laughed, and Ryan looked over at his family, adding, “I love that my entire family is here.”
Ryan, now 47, and Blake Lively, 36, have built a beautiful family together. They are proud parents to three daughters: James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4. Earlier this year, their family grew even bigger when Blake gave birth to their fourth child in February, just five months after confirming her pregnancy. Fans of the couple had been eagerly awaiting the news of the new arrival.
Ryan had spoken about their excitement during a February 13, 2023, interview on CNBC’s Power Lunch. “We’re very excited. Look, we wouldn’t do this four times if we didn’t love it,” he said with his usual humor. Despite his playful attitude, it was clear that being a dad brought him immense joy.
He also gave everyone a quick update on how life at home was going. “Everybody’s doing great. Everybody’s actually doing fantastic,” he shared with a grin. “If we hadn’t figured it out by now, I think we’d be in deep, deep trouble.” The crowd laughed again, knowing Ryan’s trademark mix of wit and sincerity.
However, at that time, Ryan had kept one detail under wraps—the name and gender of their new baby. This wasn’t a surprise, as he and Blake have a tradition of waiting until after the birth to find out the baby’s sex.
“We never find out until the baby is born,” Ryan said during an interview with Today. “I know girls, so I’m kind of hoping for that, but I’m ready for whatever happens.”
At the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere, Ryan finally shared the name everyone had been waiting to hear: Olin. A sweet and simple announcement, met with applause as the world welcomed their newest family member.
