It is meant to be an extraordinary celebration of love—unconventional and full of surprises. Nevertheless, Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett are expecting not only guests from their illustrious circle of friends but also family and representatives from allied royal houses at their wedding. However, the Swedish royals have yet to confirm their attendance.
They are an unconventional couple, and their wedding is intended to reflect that. Princess Märtha Louise, 52, and Durek Verrett, 49, will tie the knot on August 31, 2024, in the village of Geiranger in western Norway. It is set to be an unforgettable event for the bride and groom and their guests. However, even now, some high-ranking invitees seem reluctant to commit to the four-day wedding spectacle.
Princess Märtha Louise Awaits Confirmation from Sweden
The Swedish royal family, at least, has apparently not made any moves to announce their attendance at the upcoming love fest of Märtha Louise and her future husband. This hesitation is surprising. After all, there are strong connections between the Bernadottes and the Norwegian palace. They are friends, even linked through godparent relationships, and usually do not miss important milestones on either side.
This unexpected reluctance raises questions. When asked by “Svensk Damtidning,” palace spokeswoman Margareta Thorgren found herself in a bit of a bind: “I cannot say anything about that at the moment. I will likely have answers about the participation in the wedding in a few weeks when I have the opportunity to speak with the royal family,” she said.
Victoria and Company Have Other Plans First
So currently, no contact with the employer? Well, that might not be surprising. In Sweden, it is currently summer vacation. The royal family is slowly slipping into their break, taking only occasional appointments and looking forward to Princess Victoria’s 46th birthday on July 14, which will be celebrated grandly again.
And who knows? Perhaps the crown princess, Princess Madeleine, 42, and others have already contacted Märtha Louise privately and have quietly secured their spots at the royal wedding event of the year.
