Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques celebrate Saint John’s Eve in Monaco on Sunday evening with their father, Prince Albert. However, the little princess appears anything but happy.
On Monday, June 24, 2024, the feast of Saint John is celebrated – the high feast of John the Baptist’s birth. A special day for devout Christians worldwide. But the night before, known as Saint John’s Eve, is celebrated grandly in many places, including Catholic Monaco. Naturally, Prince Albert, 66, and his twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, both 9, did not miss out on these festivities.
Princess Gabriella sulks on the princely balcony
From the balcony of the Prince’s Palace, the sovereign and his offspring observed the events in the square outside their residence. Princess Charlene, 46, could not attend the festivities; the former professional swimmer participated in an event on the evening of June 23 honoring Pierre de Coubertin, †74, and the invention of the modern Olympic Games in Paris. Was her daughter Gabriella feeling down because of this? Or was there a disagreement just before stepping onto the balcony? Footage of Saint John’s Eve shows the little princess sulking next to her twin brother, demonstratively crossing her arms in front of her chest while Jacques whispers something in her ear. Even then, Gabriella cannot muster a smile.
Prince Jacques no longer allows himself to be “dominated” by his sister
Prince Albert made it clear in an interview with “Paris Match” in March of this year that his twins are becoming increasingly different. “The twins will turn ten at the end of the year, and I see how each one’s temperament is changing or asserting itself,” Albert revealed to journalist Stéphane Bern, adding, “Gabriella is more the continuity of what she hinted at as a child. She is a little girl with an independent character who can express herself quite freely.”
Especially his son and heir Prince Jacques has changed significantly in recent years. “It was thought Jacques was introverted, but he has become more confident for some time now. He is benevolent towards his sister but no longer allows himself to be dominated by her. He can moderate her and say no. It’s very amusing to watch him. They are very close, very fused,” said Prince Albert.
