Pauley Perrette revealed she had a stroke in 2021. Initially, fans criticized her new hairstyle, but by 2023, many had changed their minds.
Perrette left “NCIS” because of a co-star’s actions.
On September 2, 2021, Pauley Perrette shared a social media video in September 2022, marking the first anniversary of her severe stroke. She spoke about how tough that time had been, losing loved ones and friends. Grateful and full of faith, Perrette called herself a survivor for overcoming her struggles.
Perrette shared that she had faced death several times, dealing with life-threatening food and hair dye allergies, domestic abuse, sexual assault, and an almost fatal attack by a homeless person. After two years of hardship, Perrette felt “good” about herself and her rescue pets.
Her appearance had changed since leaving “NCIS” as forensic specialist Abby Sciuto. Initially, fans didn’t like her new look, but some eventually warmed up to it. Before revealing her stroke, Perrette showed off her rainbow-colored hair.
After quitting “NCIS,” what did Pauley look like, and how did fans react?
On November 10, 2021, Perrette shared photos on Twitter of her new look. She described herself as looking like a “rainbow” with tousled and damp hair.
One troll called her hair “ugly” and said it made her look “cheap,” despite her beautiful face. They compared her appearance to Walmart patrons and criticized her hair as “ratty.” Others called her look “horrible” and “awful.”
However, after Perrette revealed her stroke and other life challenges, people’s opinions changed. On July 24, 2023, she posted several photos on Instagram, showing her looking amazing with rainbow-colored hair.
Someone encouraged her, saying, “Keep on being you, you’re awesome.” Another fan, calling her “Aunt P,” said she was “so beautiful” and expressed their love for her. Another admirer noted how she could make others smile and advised her to “stay you,” be happy, and keep safe.
Perrette left “NCIS” in 2018 after 15 years. Reports indicated she left due to a falling out with co-star Mark Harmon. The tension reportedly began in 2016 when Harmon’s dog bit a crew member, requiring fifteen stitches. They never shared a scene in Perrette’s final episode, highlighting their rift.
During Perrette’s farewell visit to the “NCIS” set, Harmon’s character only received a letter from her as she watched from across the street.
In a 2019 Twitter post, Perrette said she would never change her decision to leave the show. She declared, “I’m terrified of Harmon,” fearing an attack from him. She shared that she had nightmares about it and had moved on to a new, pleasant, and safe show.
