In the 1960s, the buzz around The Beatles was at its peak, and they became a huge influence on music, fashion, and hairstyles. The Beatles were known for their sharp suits and their iconic mop-top haircuts. This style, with its side-swept fringe and textured look, became super popular and is still connected to the band today.
Over the years, McCartney has tried out many different hairstyles. He has rocked shorter cuts, and at one point, he even grew a beard and mustache, always keeping up with the fashion trends of each era.
Hi everybody, I’d like to thank you all for the great birthday wishes you sent to me and the love that came with them. I once was 33, then I was 45, and now I’m 78 and spinning at 78 rpm!!! Keep rocking, many thanks and lotsa love Paul ❤️#FlashbackFriday pic.twitter.com/feAiW6vDcJ

In 1969, the same year he married Linda, he grew a thick beard that many people admired. This beard became so famous that it even got its own Instagram page called “the finest beard in rock n roll history.” How amazing is that?
As hairstyles changed, McCartney adapted his look, experimenting with various lengths and styles while keeping his signature charm. However, not every hair experiment turned out well.
According to the New York Daily News, during his marriage to Heather Mills, he decided to dye his hair at home and ended up making a complete mess! “I was horrified when I saw the result,” he admitted. Mills had to call in professionals from a Manhattan salon to fix his hair.
Eventually, McCartney embraced his natural aging hair. In 2018, when he was 76, he appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, proudly showcasing his beautiful silver hair. After dyeing his hair brown for 30 years, he finally decided to show off his natural silver locks. The Daily Mail reported that although he had kept his hair dark for so long, he started to embrace the grey, especially around his sideburns.

After recording his 18th solo album, “McCartney III,” in 2020 during the Covid lockdown, his silver hair became a part of his distinguished image.
In March 2024, McCartney was spotted soaking up the sun on the beaches of St. Bart’s with his wife, Shevell. He looked relaxed in a long-sleeved black shirt and sunset-print shorts, with his silver hair flowing in the warm breeze. Shevell, 64, matched his vibe perfectly, wearing black shorts and a colorful long-sleeved top.
Recently, McCartney shared a sweet post on social media to wish his father and his former bandmate, Ringo Starr, a happy birthday. Fans absolutely loved it, with one commenting, “You’re so cute!” and many others expressing their admiration for him.
