Families often find themselves in fierce arguments over a loved one’s possessions, and sometimes, it can get so bad that even the people meant to inherit those possessions can’t agree on how to divide them.
A woman shared a story about her mother and the inheritance she left behind after she passed away.
At the start of her story, the woman mentioned that she was the one who had cared for her sick mother. “Mom was always my best friend, so of course I was going to be there for her through it all,” the woman explained.
However, while she was always there for her mother, her greedy brother and aunts only showed up when they needed something, usually money to pay their bills.
“As my mom’s condition worsened, one of my aunts even reached out to her ‘contacts’ to help find a new place to live since my mother owned a real estate business. They were so sneaky,” the woman wrote.
Sadly, her mother passed away.
The woman then remembered the date of her mother’s will reading. It was like a scene straight out of a Hallmark movie: her brother, her aunts, and the attorney representing her late mother were all seated around the room.
“As I sipped on weak tea from one of the chipped teacups, the lawyer dropped a bombshell. My mother wanted to give my brother and aunts the $5 million she had saved. I tried to process what was happening and swallowed my tea hard, realizing that I was getting nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing at all,” she wrote.
Tears began to well up in her eyes, and soon enough, her mascara started smudging onto her skirt. Meanwhile, her brother and aunts were too overjoyed to hide their grins.
