Diana was feeling both happy and nervous as she stood in the cozy little cottage next to the garden. It was her wedding day, and everything around her smelled of sweet flowers. Through the windows, she could see the guests arriving, all smiling and chatting as they found their seats.
Her bridesmaids, dressed in soft lavender dresses, moved around her, fixing her hair and adjusting her dress. They laughed and joked, their happiness making Diana feel lighter and more excited. She smiled, thinking about how far she and Tom had come.
Tom had entered her life three years ago when she needed someone the most. He had been everything she could have ever wished for in a partner—kind, supportive, and loving. But more importantly, he had become a wonderful father figure to Ethan, her five-year-old son. The bond between Tom and Ethan was special.
They played with toy cars, built Lego castles together, and had adventures in the park. Watching them always filled Diana’s heart with joy.
“Mama, look at me!” Ethan’s excited voice pulled Diana from her thoughts. She turned to see her little boy standing proudly in his tiny suit, his bright blue eyes twinkling. He looked so grown up that it almost brought tears to her eyes.
“You look so handsome, Ethan,” she said, kneeling down to his level. “Are you ready to help me today?”
“Yes, Mama!” Ethan beamed. “I’m going to be the best ring bearer ever!”
Diana hugged him tightly, feeling overwhelmed with love. This day wasn’t just about her and Tom. It was about their little family and the future they were building together.
The door to the cottage creaked open, and one of her bridesmaids, Kelly, peeked in. “Diana, it’s almost time. Are you ready?”
Diana took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes, I’m ready.”
As they stepped out into the garden, the sight took Diana’s breath away. The aisle was lined with colorful flowers, creating a perfect path toward the altar where Tom stood, waiting for them. All the guests were smiling and chatting, filling the air with excitement.
“Ethan, are you ready?” Diana whispered, squeezing his little hand.
“Ready, Mommy,” Ethan replied, his eyes shining with excitement.
They started walking down the aisle, with soft music playing in the background. Diana could feel the warmth of everyone’s eyes on her and Ethan, their smiles adding to the joy of the moment. Ethan looked adorable in his little suit, walking confidently beside her.
As they got closer to the altar, Diana saw Tom’s face light up. His eyes sparkled with love and happiness. Her heart swelled, and she felt a tear slip down her cheek. This was it—her dream was coming true.
“Daddy, look at me!” Ethan called out, his voice bubbling with joy.
Tom chuckled and grinned at him. “I see you, champ. You look amazing!”
Ethan puffed out his chest with pride. “I’m a big boy today!”
“You sure are!” Tom replied, his eyes locking with Diana’s. They didn’t need to say anything—the look they shared said it all. They were a family, and this was the start of a beautiful new chapter.
When they reached the altar, Tom gently took Diana’s hand. “You look stunning, Diana,” he whispered.
“Thank you, Tom,” she whispered back, smiling. “I can’t believe this is happening.”
“It’s real,” he said with a smile. “And it’s perfect.”
Diana looked down at Ethan, who was beaming up at them. “We did it, sweetheart,” she said softly.
“We did it!” Ethan echoed, bouncing on his toes.
The officiant smiled at them, beginning the vows. “Tom, do you take Diana to be your wife?” he asked, his voice filled with warmth.
“I do,” Tom said, his eyes never leaving Diana’s.
“And Diana, do you take Tom to be your husband?” the officiant asked next.
“I do,” Diana said, her heart full of emotion.
Just as the officiant was about to pronounce them husband and wife, a tiny voice rang out from beside them. “I object!”
A collective gasp rose from the guests. Diana’s heart stopped. She turned and saw Ethan standing there, his face serious. Why would her son object?
“Ethan, sweetheart, why do you object?” Diana asked gently, kneeling down to face him.
Ethan held up a small, worn-out rattle in his trembling hand. “Tom has another family, Mama! I heard him talking to his mommy about his daughter. Is Tom cheating on you, Mommy?”
The crowd erupted into shocked whispers. Diana’s stomach dropped as she glanced at Tom. His face had gone pale, just like everyone else’s. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
The officiant looked around, clearly confused. The murmurs from the guests grew louder.
“Ethan, what do you mean?” Diana asked, trying to stay calm. “What did you hear?”
Ethan lowered his gaze to the ground. “I heard Tom talking to his mommy about his daughter. He said he has a daughter. Why didn’t he tell us, Mommy?”
Diana’s mind raced as she tried to process what Ethan was saying. She turned to Tom, waiting for an explanation.
Tom finally found his voice. “I can explain,” he said, facing the crowd.
Diana held up her hand, stopping him. “Ethan, are you sure you heard correctly?” she asked gently.
“Yes, Mommy,” Ethan said firmly, his face serious. “Tom said he has a daughter.”
The guests continued to murmur, exchanging confused looks.
Tom took a deep breath and met Diana’s eyes. “Well, I guess it’s time to tell the truth,” she said, breaking the tension.
Tom stepped forward, holding Diana’s hand and looking out at the crowd. Then he turned back to Ethan, kneeling down beside him.
“Ethan, buddy, you heard right,” Tom began. “There is a baby involved, but it’s not what you think.”
Another gasp swept through the crowd. Tom picked Ethan up and squeezed Diana’s hand.
He faced the guests, his smile growing wider. “Everyone, we have an announcement to make. We’re expecting a baby! Ethan, you’re going to be a big brother!”
The gasps of shock turned into a chorus of cheers and applause. The tension that had filled the air melted away into joy and excitement.
“Really? I’m going to be a big brother?” Ethan asked, his eyes wide with excitement.
Diana hugged him tightly, tears of happiness streaming down her face. “Yes, sweetheart, you’re going to be the best big brother ever.”
Tom wrapped his arms around both of them. “We wanted to surprise everyone today,” he said, chuckling. “But I guess our little guy here beat us to it.”
Ethan grinned. “We’re having a baby?”
“That’s right, champ,” Tom said, smiling. “We’re having a baby.”
The crowd continued cheering, and the atmosphere shifted to one of laughter and celebration. The officiant, now smiling widely, picked up where they had left off. “Well, this certainly is a special day! Let’s continue with the ceremony.”
The rest of the vows went quickly, and soon Tom and Diana were pronounced husband and wife. They kissed, sealing their love and commitment in front of their family and friends.
Later, as the sun set and cast a soft golden glow over the garden, Diana watched Tom and Ethan playing together. Her heart was full of love, knowing that their journey as a family was only just beginning.
And it was already filled with so much joy.
