House fires have always been one of my biggest fears. I’ve never experienced one, thanks to my constant checking of the stove, candles, and dryer vents.
But there was one potential fire hazard I didn’t know about until I saw a Facebook post from a man named Jason Whitaker.
Jason’s Shocking Discovery
Jason Whitaker, who lives in Kentucky, shared a surprising story on Facebook. He kept smelling something like an electrical fire and was tearing his house apart to find the source. Finally, he discovered the smell was coming from a fluorescent spiral light bulb.
The Unexpected Culprit
Inside the coils of the light bulb, Jason found ladybugs. Yes, ladybugs! These bugs are attracted to light and heat, so they had crawled inside the bulb’s coils.
Jason’s photos showed that the accumulation of ladybugs had almost caught fire due to the heat from the bulb.
An Important Warning
I wanted to share Jason’s story because this is a fire hazard I had never thought about. If you have these spiral light bulbs in your home, check them regularly for insects trying to get warm inside.
This simple check could prevent a house fire.
Jason’s post serves as a reminder to stay vigilant about all potential hazards, even the ones we might not think about. Stay safe!
