There are some auditions on talent shows that are so amazing, they give you chills every time you watch them. You just know you’ll never forget that moment.
One of these unforgettable moments happened when a group of five young men called Collabro took the stage on Britain’s Got Talent. The audience had no idea what was about to happen, but it was going to be something they’d remember forever.
As they stood proudly before the judges, introducing themselves as a new group, Simon Cowell wasn’t exactly impressed. He looked at the others with a skeptical smile, thinking, “Here we go again—another boy band trying to make it.”
When he found out the group had only been together for about a month, his face showed even more doubt. “What makes you think you can win Britain’s Got Talent after just a month together?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Judge Alesha Dixon wasn’t too sure either. “You’ve only been together for a month. Why do you think you can win?” she asked, eyeing them with curiosity. Without hesitating, the leader of the group confidently replied, “I believe it’s natural chemistry.”
Alesha smiled. “That’s lovely. Take it away,” she said, giving them the go-ahead to perform.
And that’s exactly what they did. The guys began their performance with “Stars” from the musical Les Misérables, and from the very first note, they captivated the crowd. There was a beautiful solo, and the audience was absolutely silent, hanging on every word.
As the song continued, each member took turns with powerful solos, showing off their talent and strength. Then, the chorus hit, and it was like magic. Their voices blended together perfectly, and the entire room was in awe.
The snarky smiles from earlier? Gone. In their place were wide eyes and mouths hanging open. The performance was so moving, so incredible, that the crowd stood up before the song even finished, giving them a standing ovation.
After just one performance, the judges were left eating humble pie. Amanda Holden, who had been skeptical earlier, couldn’t hold back her excitement. “That was bloody brilliant,” she said, her eyes sparkling.
And just like that, Collabro’s “natural chemistry” carried them all the way to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent 2014. It was like a fairy tale, and in the end, they won the whole competition.
Their performance of “Stars” went viral, and to this day, it has over 51 million views on YouTube! It’s clear that talent, teamwork, and chemistry can create something truly special, even when it comes from the most unexpected places.
