Tragedy at Sea: The Untold Story of a Yacht Party
On a sunny day off the beautiful coast of Brazil, two popular influencers, Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27, set out for what was supposed to be a fun and glamorous yacht party. However, this celebration would quickly turn into a heartbreaking tragedy.
The yacht they boarded was intended for five people but had six passengers on board. Aline and Beatriz, along with their friends, wanted to enjoy the sunny skies and turquoise waters, but they made a dangerous choice.
Despite safety regulations, the influencers decided not to wear life jackets. They believed that the life jackets would ruin their photos and interfere with their tanning. “We wanted to look good for our followers,” one survivor later commented, expressing the pressure they felt.
Their party took place near a notoriously treacherous spot known as the “Devil’s Throat.” This name gave a chilling hint of the danger lurking in the waters. On September 29, as they laughed and chatted, suddenly, a massive wave crashed into their overloaded yacht, tipping the balance and causing panic.
The captain, feeling the weight of responsibility, struggled to keep the yacht afloat while trying to save everyone on board, battling against the odds.
In a heart-stopping moment, the boat could no longer hold its weight. Reports confirm that as the yacht began to sink, chaos erupted. People screamed, splashed, and clung to anything they could find.
Sadly, Beatriz was the first to be found by Brazil’s Maritime Firefighters, her body discovered floating out at sea. Days later, Aline’s lifeless body washed ashore at Itaquitanduva Beach.
The distressing moments that followed were described by those who managed to survive. Vanessa Audrey da Silva, who had managed to secure a life jacket, clung desperately to a cluster of rocks, where she fought for her life.
“There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone. I was fighting for life,” she shared, recalling the chaos that unfolded as the waves crashed around them. Her words painted a vivid picture of desperation and fear amidst the tragedy.
Another survivor, Camila Alves de Carvalho, also faced the raging waters struggling to keep her head above water. “We almost died. We didn’t know how to swim,” she said, her voice trembling with the memory of that terrifying day.
She too had to hold onto a life jacket just to stay alive, suffering injuries and swallowing a tide of salty sea water.
Alongside Vanessa and Camila were three more survivors: Daniel Goncalves Ferreira, Gabriela Santos Lima, and Natan Cardoso Soares da Silva. They had all gathered to celebrate, hoping for a day of luxury filled with laughter, drinks, and the warm Brazilian sun.
They split into two groups to return to shore, but the group on the ill-fated yacht would soon learn that nature can be unpredictable and fierce.
The tragic drownings of Aline and Beatriz have ignited a formal investigation to uncover the details surrounding their deaths. Police Commissioner Marcos Alexandre Alfino stated, “All this is being determined very calmly to conclude if the fatalities were based on recklessness or negligence.”
Authorities are looking into the safety issues at play, noting that the yacht was overloaded and that two people had refused to wear life jackets—an especially dangerous decision for Aline, who reportedly could not swim.
In the final hours before their deaths, Aline shared breathtaking photos on social media, capturing her joy while posing on the yacht against the stunning backdrop of the ocean.
