Hi, I’m Nikki, and I want to tell you about a time when karma needed a little nudge. This story is about how I turned an ordinary night into the perfect moment for some sweet revenge when I saw my ex-fiancé, Mark, at an upscale restaurant with another woman.
Five years ago, Mark ended our engagement, saying I “wasn’t good enough” after he got promoted. He wanted someone more sophisticated. It hurt a lot, but I moved on.
Now, fast forward to last Saturday. Mark, now 35 and single, was at this new restaurant. I saw my chance to play a little prank. I asked the waiter to deliver a bottle of champagne to his table with a note: “To Mark, who always settles for second best.” Mark’s face turned red, and his date looked really confused.
Knowing Mark is allergic to appetizers, I sent one to his table with a note saying, “Just a reminder of what you can’t have.” Mark struggled to explain this to his increasingly irritated date.
For the grand finale, I called my friend Sarah. She walked up to Mark’s table and loudly asked, “How’s your fiancée doing?
Did she finally agree to an open relationship?” Clara, Mark’s date, looked horrified and stormed off.
I couldn’t resist walking over to Mark’s table and giving him a sweet smile. “Hello, Mark. I guess I wasn’t so ‘not good enough’ after all.” Then I walked out of the restaurant, feeling triumphant.
A few days later, I heard that Clara and Mark had broken up. Sometimes, getting even feels incredibly satisfying, especially when it involves a bit of public humiliation.
