My ex-husband has been remarried for eight years, but I’ve never liked his rude and arrogant wife. For our 17-year-old daughter’s graduation, I asked him not to bring her. It was a special day for OUR child, and I didn’t think his wife needed to be there.
He agreed, and everything seemed fine. But after the ceremony ended, my daughter and her father suddenly turned and walked toward their car. Confused, I reminded them that I was hosting a small celebration at my house.
That’s when my ex dropped a bombshell:
They were heading to his place because his wife was throwing a big party to make up for not being at the graduation.
The situation got even worse when my daughter said, “Mom, you’ll never get over Dad leaving you for her, and that’s really sad.” She added, “You’re my mom, but she’s been my stepmom since I was nine.”
I was heartbroken, standing there in tears in the parking lot. Was I wrong to want to celebrate my daughter’s graduation without her stepmother ruining it?
“You need to let go of the past, Mom,” my daughter continued. “It’s not fair to keep holding onto this anger.”
This moment left me questioning my actions and wondering if I had been too focused on my own feelings instead of what was best for my daughter.

The Dad is at fault. He knew all about the party. Mom should of said okay me and My daughter will be there.
