I Blamed My Husband for His Meager Salary, Not Knowing He Spent Most of It on 2 Babies I Never Saw – My Story

My husband and I had been fighting nonstop for months. It felt like we were stuck in an endless cycle of arguments, all because of our terrible financial situation and the fact that Wyatt was always coming home late. The tension had been building up, and I felt like I was drowning in confusion. I didn’t understand where all our money was going every month, and I had no idea what to make of Wyatt’s strange behavior.

One day, I decided I had to find out the truth. I couldn’t take it anymore. I decided to follow him. Maybe, just maybe, I’d discover the reason for all his secrecy. My heart raced as I trailed behind him. As we drove, I couldn’t shake the fear that I might discover something I couldn’t live with. My mind raced with thoughts. Was he cheating? Was he hiding something from me? The thought of him betraying me twisted in my gut.

Then, I saw something that completely shocked me. Wyatt drove into his brother’s driveway, and I saw him get out of the car… holding a baby. I couldn’t believe it. Wyatt, the man I thought I knew, was holding a child. What was going on?

Before I could even process what I’d just seen, the front door of his brother Dawson’s house opened. And there she was—Faye, my sister-in-law, smiling warmly and greeting Wyatt with a hug. My stomach dropped. What was happening? Was Wyatt really having an affair with her? I’d always known Faye to be rude and condescending, but this was something I never expected. I thought we had agreed to stay away from them. Why was Wyatt here?

I was too furious and confused to just sit in my car and think it over. I slammed the door and stormed toward the house. There was no way I was letting this slide. I wasn’t going to stand by and let Wyatt break my heart. Not this time.

When I got inside, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Wyatt was holding not just one baby, but two. And Faye had one of the babies in her arms. My heart pounded in my chest. What was going on? Faye and Dawson didn’t have any kids as far as I knew. The whole situation felt surreal.

“Wyatt, what is happening here?” My voice was shaky, quieter than I intended. I thought I would be screaming, but seeing those babies stopped me cold. “Are you coming here every night? Those babies… are they yours?”

Wyatt looked at me, his face full of confusion. “What? Jenna, what are you talking about? Of course, they’re not mine! These are Faye and Dawson’s babies.”

“Then… why didn’t you tell me about this? I thought you hadn’t talked to them in months!” I felt a wave of frustration and confusion rising up inside me.

“I haven’t… until recently,” Wyatt started to explain, but before he could finish, Faye stepped forward.

“I think it’s time I explained,” she said, her voice soft and sincere. She looked at me with an expression I didn’t recognize. Faye, the woman who had always been so cold to me, was now speaking to me like we were friends. “Wyatt has been helping us with money and spending time with the babies.”

“Money?” I echoed, confused. “Why would you need money? You and Dawson always seemed to be doing so well.”

Faye’s eyes filled with tears. “We did. I thought we were, too. But I was wrong. I was so horrible to you and everyone else. I am so sorry for everything I said to you.”

She paused, wiping her eyes. “The truth is, Dawson was hiding a lot. He was doing something shady at work, and it all came out. He’s in jail now. But that’s not even the worst part. He was cheating on me with his secretary. She gave me proof, and I found out everything.”

“Oh my God,” I whispered, stunned by the revelation.

Faye and Wyatt led me to sit down, and they started explaining everything in more detail. It turned out that Dawson had racked up a huge amount of debt, and all of their accounts were seized. The only thing they couldn’t take was Faye’s house, which was still in her mother’s name. But everything else was taken from them, including their savings, and Faye had been left alone to raise the twins—seven months pregnant at the time.

I sat there, numb, trying to process what I had just learned. Wyatt had been helping Faye and her babies without telling me. He had been sending money to make sure they had what they needed, and he had been spending time with the twins, trying to keep things afloat for them. It wasn’t something I could have ever imagined.

I felt a mix of emotions—anger, guilt, confusion—but mostly, I felt… betrayed. I had blamed Wyatt for our own financial struggles, and it turned out he was carrying this huge secret, one that I never could have guessed.

I stared at Wyatt, my mind racing. “Why didn’t you tell me about this sooner?”

“I didn’t know how,” he said quietly. “I didn’t want to add to your stress. I didn’t know how to explain this without making everything worse.”

I understood what he was saying. He had been trying to protect me, but in doing so, he had kept me in the dark. I didn’t know how to feel. Part of me wanted to be angry with him, but another part of me understood why he did what he did.

But what about Faye? What about everything she had said to me before? Could I forgive her? She had been cruel, mocking my health issues, calling me mentally unstable, and refusing to help when we were at our lowest. Could I look past all of that?

I didn’t know what to do. The whole situation was a mess, and my emotions were all over the place. Would you forgive Faye for everything she said and did? Would you forgive Wyatt for keeping this secret from you? And, most importantly, could I ever take the high road in this mess? I was lost in the confusion, not sure what my next move should be.

What would you do?
