As they settled in, Grandpa started exploring the house. He wandered into the bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet. To his surprise, he found a bottle of little blue pills. “What are these?” he wondered aloud, holding up the bottle with curiosity.
When his son walked in, he saw Grandpa with the bottle and quickly said, “Dad, I don’t think you should take one of those pills. They’re very strong and very expensive!”
“How much are they?” Grandpa asked, intrigued.
“They’re $10.00 a pill,” his son replied, trying to sound serious.
Grandpa chuckled, a mischievous sparkle in his eye. “I don’t care! I’d still like to try one. Before we leave in the morning, I’ll put the money under the pillow.”
The next morning, Grandpa’s son woke up and found something surprising under the pillow—$110! He scratched his head in confusion and called out to Grandpa, “Dad! I told you each pill was $10, not $110!”
With a cheeky grin, Grandpa replied, “I know! The hundred is from Grandma!”
The whole family erupted in laughter. Grandma chimed in, “What can I say? I wanted to join in on the fun too!” Grandpa winked at her, and the room filled with joy as they all shared a hearty laugh. At the checkout, Kevin was still causing a ruckus, tossing items out of the cart like a tiny tornado. Grandpa, still composed, said, “William, relax, buddy! Don’t get upset. We’ll be home in five short minutes; just stay cool!”
The woman watching was amazed by Grandpa’s patience and humor. After they finished shopping, she approached him outside while he was loading the groceries into the car. “Excuse me, sir,” she said, “I just have to say, you were incredible in there!
I don’t know how you kept your cool while that little guy was so loud and disruptive. William is very lucky to have you as his grandpa!”
Grandpa smiled and replied, “Thanks, but I’m actually William. The little brat’s name is Kevin!”
The woman burst out laughing, realizing she had completely misunderstood the situation. Grandpa’s quick wit and patience had turned a challenging shopping trip into a comedy show, leaving everyone in high spirits.
