Millions of people were told to get ready for Hurricane Milton yesterday as it was about to hit land. But humans weren’t the only ones who had to prepare. Our animal friends at the zoo also had to change their plans. Luckily, they didn’t have to face the storm alone. The caregivers at St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park were there to keep them safe.
To protect the animals, many were moved inside to stay away from the flooding. But the alligators seemed to be fine outside! In fact, one employee captured some incredible footage during the storm. With the heavy rain, the alligators bellowing loudly, and big birds flying in the background, the man couldn’t help but say, “I’m getting Jurassic Park vibes!”
People couldn’t stop commenting about it. One person joked, “In case you can’t check your Waffle House index, please listen for the gator warning system!” Another added, “Gators and rain. That’s Floridian ASMR.”
You might be asking, why were the alligators bellowing like that? Turns out, they make noise for a few different reasons! You can check out the video to learn more about it.
Before Hurricane Milton made landfall, it was a Category 5 storm. Although it did cause some damage, the worst didn’t happen. The good news is that everyone, including the alligators, is safe and doing just fine after the storm!
