“The Voice” is back, and this time, its return is sparking some serious buzz. The show is already known for its exciting twists and turns, but there’s something especially intriguing about this new season, thanks to a surprising coaching pick.

Let’s dive into what fans are saying about the show’s 2025 season and the unexpected return of Adam Levine.
NBC’s popular singing competition, “The Voice,” kicked off its 2025 season with plenty of anticipation. Fans were eager to see which new talents would emerge, but the coaching lineup has sparked a mix of excitement and disappointment.
Some viewers are thrilled to see Adam Levine return to the red chair, but others are far from happy. In fact, some even considered switching off the show altogether.
One viewer voiced their frustration, saying, “Watched it, but not real happy with judge choices this year.
Sad. I was looking forward to it starting back up. Disappointed!!” It’s clear that not everyone was thrilled with the changes.

Several fans also expressed sadness over the absence of beloved former coaches. One person shared, “Just not the same without the previous coaches. Miss Gwen, Reba, Blake, Snoop, and more. Not a fan of Adam.”
It seems like the old familiar faces left a lasting impression on many of the show’s followers.

But not all reactions have been negative. A number of fans are celebrating Levine’s return with excitement. “I AM SOOOOOO GLAD Adam is back… They are all amazing, but Adam has always been a favorite,” wrote one thrilled fan. Clearly, for some, his return is the highlight of the new season.

However, not everyone is quick to forgive Levine for past controversies. One viewer remembered a moment from a previous season that left them upset: “Any contestant with common sense would stay away from picking Adam.
My jaw dropped when he told one of his team members that ‘he had to support his girl.’ A team member that was sick and didn’t perform that night. Didn’t pan out well because she got sent home! But to tell the audience to basically vote for one team member over another… I lost all respect for Adam.”
Despite the mixed opinions, many fans are still excited for what’s to come. One user expressed their enthusiasm, saying, “Sooo good! And am so glad Adam is back!!! Love me some Maroon 5!!!!”
Levine himself sat down with People magazine recently to explain why now felt like the right time to return to the show. “I honestly feel like the stars aligned,” he shared.
“It was one of those moments where we started talking about it and it felt right… and it hadn’t felt right until now.”
Adam had initially stepped away from “The Voice” after season 16, taking a break from the show to recharge. He described his time on the show as an “interesting and beautiful thing,” but admitted the intense workload left him feeling exhausted.
“Doing it for so long, so consistently, for almost eight or nine years of my life, you can definitely start to get burnt,” he confessed.

During his break, Levine focused on his music career and personal life. “I did it for this really long period of time, so I started to feel like I was kind of getting away from things that matter to me the most, like making music and playing music,” he explained.
Taking a step back gave Levine the space to appreciate the other important aspects of his life.
“It was so nice to have one job,” he said, reflecting on the peace that came with slowing down. Now, he’s ready to dive back into “The Voice,” calling it “a huge part of my life.”
Levine also expressed excitement about working with his fellow coaches—Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and John Legend. “I got lucky because I got these guys,” he said, showing his appreciation for the team.
But Levine’s approach to the show has shifted. “I don’t really see it as a competition anymore, and I know they’re not going to like that, but that’s not what it is,” he confessed. For him, the real purpose of the show is to mentor and guide the aspiring artists.
“It’s an opportunity for us to share our experiences with the people on the show. And it always has been that,” he added.
While competition still plays a role in “The Voice,” Levine believes his primary role is to help the contestants grow. “I think that’s really valuable for the people on the show that are needing that experience, or that push, that help. And that’s what I think we’re there for,” he said.
Levine’s return to the show was officially announced in June 2024. As one of the original coaches when “The Voice” debuted in 2011, alongside Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green, Adam became a familiar face for fans.
He stayed on the show for 16 seasons before stepping away in 2019, making occasional guest appearances before his full-time return in season 27.
Back in October 2019, Levine opened up on The Howard Stern Show about his decision to leave the show. “The real answer is that I was ready to not be doing it anymore… for a little bit,” he admitted.
He went on to explain that the decision felt natural, saying, “For better or worse, the moment in which we decided to walk away felt really good. This was the right time for me to go.”
Levine had been balancing multiple commitments, including his music career with Maroon 5. “For eight-and-a-half years, I was so busy—[I] had the band, [I] had ‘The Voice.’ I was beyond fortunate to go through all of it because it was a life-altering experience being on that show,” he shared.
But as his personal life evolved, so did his priorities. “Then it got to the point where I got married, I had two kids, and I wanted to spend time with them,” he added.
Now, after six years away from the show, Levine has returned with a fresh perspective and a new energy.
The 2025 season of “The Voice” premiered on Monday, February 3, and while reactions to Levine’s return are mixed, it’s clear his comeback is one of the most talked-about moments of the season.
Fans are eager to see how his return will shake up the competition and what new surprises lie ahead!
