McDonald’s is getting a lot of heat from a TikTok user who says their prices are out of control.
The man was shocked to find out that his usual meal now costs more than $16. This meal included a large fry, a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, and a Sprite.
In the USA and around the world, living expenses have gone up a lot because of recent inflation. This means even cheap takeout options like McDonald’s have become more expensive, so people can’t count on getting a cheap meal there anymore.
Christopher Olive, the TikTok user whose video went viral, claims that a few years ago, this meal cost $10 or even less.
In his video, he says, “I know salaries are growing, there’s a labor shortage, and a lot of other things, but sixteen dollars? A burger, a huge order of fries, and a drink cost sixteen dollars. It’s simply absurd.”
Thousands of people have watched and commented on his video. Most agree that $16.10 for a burger, fries, and a drink is ridiculous.

“McDonald’s prices for Five Guys? It’s crazy,” one person said. Christopher replied, “Go to the store and buy hamburger meat, it’s officially not convenient or affordable anymore.”
Another person commented, “I make a lot more of my own food these days because of stuff like this.” Christopher responded, “Exactly. I was somewhat surprised to learn that 90% of the food I eat is homemade.”
However, some people argue that we need to remember rising costs affect the whole supply chain. They also say Christopher ordered the most expensive item on the menu.
