Since 2021, Dua Lipa has wanted to expand her London villa, but the necessary permits were missing. Now it seems she can finally realize her dreams.
Can Dua Lipa, 28, soon splash around in the pool of her dreams? In December 2021, the singer submitted plans to the London building authority to expand her villa: she wanted to create an XXL spa area in the basement with a pool, steam bath, shower, relaxation room, cinema, and music studio. However, the extensive renovation plans attracted the attention of city officials and conservationists. After a three-year dispute, the musician’s project is now moving forward.
According to the British newspaper “The Sun,” pictures of the property show that the villa has already been completely gutted. Additionally, the ground has been broken, and digging around the house has started. Dua Lipa could move in soon—she bought the house in North London in 2020 for around 8 million euros but has never lived in it.
Strict Regulations for Nature and Noise
As the newspaper reports, Dua Lipa was granted the long-awaited permits by the city council last March. However, she must adhere to strict conditions during the renovation. To address conservationists’ complaints about the loss of green space, she must create a rooftop garden on the extension to provide a new habitat for local wildlife.
Furthermore, construction noise must be kept to a minimum and even “at least ten decibels below typical background noise levels.” All construction machinery must be equipped with “anti-vibration isolators” to prevent disturbing the neighbors. Lipa even had to provide an expert report proving that the pool’s machinery room would not exceed 28 decibels, roughly the noise level of a quiet whisper (25 decibels).
“Plans for the House are Epic”
An insider previously confirmed to “The Sun” that the project could finally begin. “Dua’s plans for her house are epic, and after four years, she has finally started looking for contractors to begin the work,” he explained. The pop star is making an effort not to disturb any neighbors while creating her dream home. “Dua doesn’t want to cause any trouble and is looking forward to turning her house into a home,” the source said.
