At just eight years old, Akiane Kramarik painted a picture that would touch millions: “Prince of Peace,” a breathtaking image of Jesus Christ. The artwork was so powerful, full of depth and peace, that it felt like it came from a place far beyond her years. But it wasn’t just the painting itself that moved people—it was the incredible story behind it, one full of visions, loss, and an unbelievable journey that lasted over 16 years.
When the painting was finally returned to her after being lost for so long, it gave the world a glimpse into Akiane’s unique life, her passion, and her deep spiritual connection.
Now, Akiane is 28 years old and a famous painter, author, and philanthropist. She’s done so much in her life, but the creation of “Prince of Peace” is still one of her most cherished memories. She always talks about how this painting came from a “visionary inspiration”—a moment when she felt guided by something much bigger than herself.
“It comes from God,” she said. “His voice is soft and lovely.” The painting shows a gentle, human version of Jesus, filled with love and kindness. This connection to the divine has continued to shape everything she does.
Growing up in a small town in Idaho, Akiane didn’t come from a religious family. Her mother, Forelli, was from Lithuania, and her father was American. They were both agnostic, meaning they didn’t follow any religion or believe in God. Akiane’s mom said they never talked about God at home or practiced any religious rituals.
“We didn’t attend church, pray, or talk about God,” Forelli explained. “Then suddenly, our daughter started talking about God’s love and wanting to paint what she saw. It was amazing.”
When Akiane was just four years old, she began telling her parents about these vivid dreams and visions she was having. She described visiting heaven, a place full of light, beauty, and peace, and said she saw Jesus, not as some far-off figure, but as someone real and close. She felt this deep urge to paint what she had seen.
Her parents were confused and shocked, but they watched as their little girl picked up a paintbrush and started creating art that seemed far beyond what any child her age should be able to do. Her talent was incredible, and it seemed like she had been given a gift from above.
The story of “Prince of Peace” became even more amazing when Akiane started searching for the perfect model for Jesus. She had a clear image in her mind from her visions and knew she needed to find someone who looked just like him. “I spent a long time looking for a model,” she said.
She prayed for guidance, hoping to find someone who matched her vision. Then one day, a carpenter showed up at their door, and Akiane knew immediately—this was the man from her dreams. “That was him,” she told her mother. The carpenter agreed to model for her, and that’s when Akiane began painting.
The result was extraordinary. “Prince of Peace” showed Jesus with a calm, loving expression, and his eyes were full of kindness and peace. The painting quickly gained worldwide attention. People were amazed not only by how beautiful it was, but by the fact that such a young girl had created something so deeply moving and spiritual.
But the story didn’t stop there. After gaining so much fame, the painting was stolen. For sixteen long years, “Prince of Peace” was lost. It had been sold without Akiane’s family knowing and got stuck in a long legal battle over who owned it.
During this time, Akiane often spoke about how much she missed the painting and how much she wanted it back. She knew that the painting brought peace to many people, and it broke her heart to think it was hidden away.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Akiane got her painting back. The legal fight was over, and “Prince of Peace” was returned to her. But instead of keeping it for herself, she decided to sell it to a private collector who promised to display it publicly. Today, the painting can be seen at the Belóved Gallery in Marble Falls, Texas, where people from all over the world come to experience its beauty.
Seeing her painting in a gallery felt like closing a chapter for Akiane. “It still feels unreal,” she said. “The journey this painting has been on is almost unbelievable—but it taught me about the power of love and faith. Love is incredibly strong.”
Since then, Akiane has continued to paint, sharing her spiritual experiences through her art. She has painted many more pieces, each one inspired by her visions of heaven, love, and humanity. She has also written poetry and books about her journey and the importance of following one’s inspiration.
In addition to her art, Akiane has used her fame and success to help children in need and support various charitable causes.
The return of “Prince of Peace” wasn’t just about getting a lost painting back—it was the revival of a story about the power of faith, love, and the incredible way that art can connect people. Akiane’s journey, from a little girl with visions to a world-famous artist, is a powerful reminder that when we listen to our inner voice and trust in something bigger, amazing things can happen.
